​Those closest to me know that handmade jewelry is one of my favorite things! Receiving a new piece carefully-crafted with you in mind is such a special feeling. It’s wearable artwork. One of the highlights of my year has been connecting with the truly creative jewelry artist Ashley Lara of LoveJaded Designs. I ordered a beautiful rose quartz ring that is so precious to me. Ashley custom designed this piece for me and was so patient and attentive during the process. Intro
I am Ashley Lara, a mom, wife, and entrepreneur from Brooklyn, NY. I am a jewelry designer and crochet artist who studied at the Art Institute of New York City.  I started my business, LoveJaded Designs, in 2011. LoveJaded Designs is an accessories-based brand using urban culture and art influences to create unique wire-wrapped accessories.  It has since expanded to include crochet pieces.

Inspired by 
As cliché as it sounds, my brand was inspired by a night out. Everyone looked the same as most of us shopped the same stores. Most girls were in college with limited funds, so getting custom work was expensive.  I wanted to provide that for them, but at a decent cost. So in 2011 I started LoveJaded, now known as LoveJaded Designs. In my family, hoops are one of the first accessories we’re given as babies, and then we grow up with the big hoops. Hoops are my favorite thing to make because it feels as though I am recreating these special moments. 

What sets the brand apart
​I love everything fashion and love that I've shared my work with people across the United States as well as overseas.  My clients make it so easy to continue to create, from my abstract designs to creating a personal shopping experience with all my clients. I want them to feel like they are VIP no matter if they're shopping our launched pieces or requesting custom work.

Products offered
​The starting price of our hoops are $25. Next are the bracelets and cuffs which range from $17 - $25. Both hoops and bracelets are wrapped with semi-precious stones and/or glass beads. We've since been named the "Hoop Dealer" & "Stack Maker". Custom work is some of our favorite things to create as it is specific to that individual, and the main reason that we started LoveJaded. Custom work ranges from all categories: hoops, bracelets, cuffs, waist beads, necklaces, rings, and crochet designs.

Proud accomplishments 
My greatest accomplishment in business, so far, has been to not give up. My drive has only increased after the birth of my daughter. I continued to create custom pieces up until she was born and then right back at it 2 weeks after.

What's next for LoveJaded Designs?
Right now I'm working on introducing a subscription series, green program, and loyalty program.

I'm JaBett Glenn, mother of four, 15 year service member, and founder of Rock Your Month LLC based in Detroit, MI. As an online subscription source for feminine hygienic care, R.Y.M. was born with the concept of convenience and accessibility. Rooted in the heart of the city, Rock Your Month uses proceeds from purchases to bring feminine hygienic care to women and girls in need throughout local communities. Long-term, R.Y.M. aims to provide awareness & empowerment to women all over the world through hygienic educational programs and distribution partnerships with support shelters, veteran programs, and single father resource centers nationwide.

Proud Accomplishments  
Our greatest accomplishment to date has come in the opportunity to serve. We launched our first nationwide Period Product Drive in October 2020 and we were able to support over 120 women, girls, and female veterans in the Detroit community. We also had the opportunity to donate over 1,000 period products to the Detroit Genesis House and partner with Black Mothers Breast Feeding Association in Detroit, MI providing R.Y.M. boxes to low income families in support of women empowerment and community development.

What’s next for Rock Your Month?
Rock Your Month looks to further branding in 2021 with exclusive promotional offers, rockin' contests, and video/blog development to keep our awesome R.Y.M. family in the know. On the community development side, our next project includes partnerships with local educational programs to bring proper hygienic awareness and period knowledge to grade school students in and around the Metro-Detroit area.

​Dressing our little ones in adorable outfits is one of the joys of being a parent, especially for parents who are lovers of fashion. Shopping for the kiddos is so much fun that we will often shop for them before we even think about shopping for ourselves. Though storefronts that offer children’s apparel are prevalent, online children’s clothing shops aren’t as easy to find. When I spied the super cute kiddie fashions offered by a shop that I came across on Instagram, I wanted to know more and I wanted to share this lucky find with my audience. Read on to get the deets on the online children’s boutique, Savvy Seeds. 

​Intro
My name is Lawanda Curtiss. I am a single mom of two.  My son is 14 and my daughter is 6.  I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, but relocated to Georgia in 2008.  I work full-time as an Intervention Specialist at a high school.

​Inspired by
While I do love my career, I'm always seeking ways to create generational wealth so that my children don't have to struggle as I did.  I would like to live a little more comfortably as well.  I have a specialist degree in Curriculum and Teaching.  However, due to financial reasons, I was not able to live on campus and did not get the full college experience.  I want different for my children.  I started Savvy Seeds as a business for my daughter in hopes that I could use the proceeds to add to her college fund.  I also want her to take over the business one day.

Savvy Seeds was started in November 2019.  It was started as a business for my daughter, Jade Maria.  She is very intelligent, extremely talented, and loves fashion. I wanted a company that could provide unique clothing items for kids who are fashion lovers like her.  My company prides itself on providing trendy items at low costs with fast shipping.
 
Someone told me they could see me in the fashion business.  However, fashion was never really my thing.  I do, however, love dressing up my daughter.  She also loves to dress up.  I was influenced to start a fashion business by her.  We like being unique and I wanted to find items that parents couldn't find at traditional clothing stores.

​Products offered
We offer clothing items for boys and girls ages 0-6.  We offer a limited supply of shoes for infants.  We also offer accessories for kids including sunglasses and purses.
We are considering a partnership with someone who makes customs bows and bowties so that we can add these custom items to our store.  We are also thinking of adding custom Savvy Seeds shirts to the store.

​Proud Accomplishments
My greatest accomplishment was acquiring brand reps.  Our two most active brand reps are Ava Marie and Kiara Rose.  Not only do they purchase and advertise products, but they also give me specific product suggestions to add to the store.  They have helped to increase our social media following and they help attract new customers.

​Advice to Aspiring Entrepreneurs
MAKE A BUSINESS PLAN!!! Do your research.  Take your time.  We just dove in.  That's NOT a good idea.  There is a lot of competition out there.  You have to figure out what will make your company stand apart from the others.
